Cub eighth-graders rally for third win of season

Kimball’s eighth-grade baseball team traveled to Holdingford to face the Huskers on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Jonah Klein started on the bump for the Cubs. He had a shaky start, giving up three runs in the first inning on four walks, one hit batter, three wild pitches and an error. After the rough start, he settled in and threw three scoreless innings. His totals for the day were four innings pitched, three runs, 10 strikeouts, four walks and one hit by pitch while picking up the win. Cooper Faber came on to close the game, facing three men and striking out one in picking up the save.

At the dish, the Cubs pounded out nine hits, four of which were for extra bases. Chase Winter led the team with two. The Cubs scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings before plating three in the final inning to take the lead and secure the 6-3 victory. Six different players scored for the Cubs and eight different batters had hits in the total team effort victory. The Cubs are now 3-0 on the season.
