Cubs C-Squad falls to EV-W and Holdingford

·

Tuesday Jan. 3, the Kimball boys?Äô C-squad opened the new year with a game against Eden Valley-Watkins. The boys showed some rust after not playing a game for over a week during the holiday break. Eden Valley had a very strong team as we fell behind 15-2 three minutes into the game, and 38-7 by halftime. We had a very tough time handling their press and struggled to get anything going offensively. This forced us to have a lot of turnovers which gave them easy baskets. The final score ended up being 61 to 15. The Cubs did not have any players with more than two points in the game.

Friday Jan. 6, the boys?Äô traveled to Holdingford to take on the Huskers. The boys came out with better energy and played a good first half. We were down 30 to 12 at the half. However, were only down 10 with 2 minutes left in the half, but two three pointers and a lay-up in the last minute of the half for Holdingford extended their lead. In the second half we shot poorly and gave up some easy lay ups on defense. The final ended up being 58-26. Moving forward, we need to continue to work on making good passes, cutting down on our turnovers, and
boxing out on defense. Brian Binsfeld had a nice game for the Cubs, scoring 10 points. Looking forward, the Cubs play two home games this week with Howard Lake on Tuesday and B-B-E on Thursday, both starting at 5:45 p.m.
