Tough loss!

Kimball hosted the Annandale Cardinals on Tuesday,

Sept. 25, and felt ready with their game to attack. However, they began set one in the hole by a score of 5-0. They slowly made a comeback and came within 2 points at 9-11 only to lose it by a score of 11-16. Again, they came back this time within one point at 16-17, and tried to hang on, but lost 22-25. Set 2 began the same as set one, with the Cubs down 5-0. The Cubs finally got the ball and served to take the lead at 7-5 only to lose the lead and be down 10-11. Kimball struggled to come back and never took the lead again and lost 17-25. It was a good showing against a tough serving team by the Cardinals. We are making improvements and looking forward to a strong finish to the season. Go Cubs!

CMC victory for the C-team

Kimball was victorious against the Maple Lake Irish on Thursday, Sept. 27, in a CMC match. The Cubs were excited to get another win under their belts with a tournament coming up on Saturday at Maple Lake. Set 1 began each team trading serves all the way to the end of the match, when Kimball went on a short streak to bring the score to 20-16. They did not relinquish the lead, and went on to win 25-23. In set 2, Maple Lake earned the first serve, however, Kimball is the one who took an early lead at 5-0, only to let the Irish come back and tie it up at 9-9. Again the score seesawed by one or two points and went over to end at 27-25 for the Cubs. Way to go CUBS!

Maple Lake Tourney

The Kimball C-team volleyball team competed in the Maple Lake Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29. The tournament had 2 divisions, a black division with Annandale, Monticello, Howard Lake and Kimball and a green division with Eden Valley, Litchfield, Maple Lake and St. Cloud Cathredral. In round one, Kimball played tough but lost to Monticello in 3 sets with scores of 12-25, 25-14, and 9-15. Round two, the Cubs competed against Howard Lake and took the Lakers in two sets with scores of

25-13 and 25-20. Round three was off one for Kimball and then in round four, the Cubs faced the Annandale Cardinals. A team they had just seen at home. The Cubs were ready and wanted the win and it showed in set one when the Cubs led most of the set but lost 25-27 but then came back to win set two by a score of 25-18. This brought the match to set three, and the Cubs knew they needed to fight hard to defeat the Cards. However, they came up short and lost 10-15. These results landed the Cubs in the consolation Championship against St. Cloud Cathedral. The Cubs again were leading most of the first set and allowed the Crusaders to make a comeback, but the Cubs pulled out a win at 26-24. Kimball knew they could win the match, but lost a close one 21-25. Once again the Cubs found themselves in a third set to try and win a match, and again it was a close one with the Cubs winning 16-14.

The only game stats the Cubs were able to keep was serves with 210 attempts with 181 successes for 86 percent and 25 ace serves.

The Cubs have only four matches remaining in the 2012 season and their next competition is Thursday, Oct. 4 at Holdingford.
