Cubs fall to the Irish, 73-67

The Kimball Cubs boy’s basketball team fell to the Maple Lake Irish 73-67 on Monday, March 1, at Maple Lake High School. The Cubs had a balanced offensive output to hang with the Irish. Kimball led 34-29 at halftime but, because of foul trouble, they trailed 50-45 at the end of the third quarter. The Cubs were led by senior forward Preston Looman who finished the game with 25 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Matt Landwehr also contributed to the scoring by chipping in 17 points, including a 3-for-3 shooting effort from behind the three-point line. Eric Voigt had eight points; while Aaron Rossman dumped in seven. Joe Masberg added six points and Derek Kunkel ended up with four points. The Cubs will participate in their final regular season game Friday, March 5, in the Leo Wirth Gymnasium in Kimball.
