The Kimball Area High School Cubs gym summer conditioning program is set to begin on Monday, July 9, at Kimball Area High School. This total group conditioning program is open to all Kimball students entering grades 7-12 and is highly recommended for high school students grades 9-12 who are planning on participating in a fall sport this year. The program runs through Tuesday, Aug. 7. The sessions meet on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week. Students can choose to come at 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. Sessions last less than one hour per workout. Each Monday and Thursday, students will do approximately 20 minutes agility and quickness drills in the north gym, following the agility drills, students will then go directly to the weight room for 21 minutes of circuit weight training. Students are asked to please use door 12 entrance on the west side of the building. On Tuesday, a running program is held at the high school track. Running technique and speed training are done at this time. In case of inclement weather the running program will take place indoors. This program has been used by successful high school programs around the country. The main objective of the program is to reduce the risk of injury and improve athletic performance. There is no charge to attend the program, though attendance is taken each day. Students are also asked to please be on time for each sessions so as the group training can start at the same time. During the week of July 2, the weight room will be open only on Monday, July 2, and closed the remainder of the week so floors in the gym area can be cleaned.
