Cubs head for final four Friday

Wrestlers win CMC title Thursday Feb. 10, the wrestlers traveled to Howard Lake to take on the host and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. In the first match of the night, the Cubs took it to LP-GE, winning with an 82-0 dual-meet score. The Cubs did receive six forfeits in the meet, but also pinned seven of the eight matches wrestled.

The second match of the night for the Cubs was Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. This was the last conference match of the year for the Cubs and they showed up ready to wrestle. The Cubs started the dual with a 24-0 lead before giving HL-W-W six points at 130. The Cubs fired off another 31 points before HL-W-W would score their last points at 215. With a 58-12 final score, the Cubs captured the Central Minnesota Conference title. The last time the wrestlers won the conference was in 2003.

The wrestlers who went 2-0 on the night include: Mitchell Mckee (103) (30-3 record), Quinten Berres (112) (33-1 record), Tanner Mills (119) (33-2 record), Marcus Hamer (125) (30-3 record), Mitch

Pramann (135) (7-5 record), Tyler Kuechle (140) (23-4 record), Jordan Joseph (145) (32-2 record),

Caramon Hansen (152) (30-3 record), Quentin Bryce (160) (15-9 record), Travis Schiefelbein (171) (15-3 record), David Joseph (189) (31-2 record), Austin Schiefelbein (hwt) (22-10 record).

The Cubs faced HL-W-W in the first round of sections Tuesday, Feb. 15, and will wrestle in the Final Four at 6 p.m. Friday Feb. 18, at ACGC. The finals will be held the same night at

7:30 p.m. in ACGC. The winner of this tournament will get the chance to wrestle in the state tournament Thursday, March 3. The Cubs go into the section tournament with a 28-1 record and the second seed. Kimball Cubs Wrestling won a place in the Final Four after a 57-10 victory over Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Tuesday night, Feb. 15. They next wrestle at ACGC for the right to represent Section 5A at State. The Final Four are ACGC, Holdingford, Paynesville, and Kimball. A fan bus will be available, with sign-up at the high school (320) 398-7700. The bus leaves KAHS at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Go Cubs!
