Cubs licking their wounds after debacle at Howard Lake

The Kimball Cubs football team took to the road last Friday, Sept. 5, and their destination was Howard Lake. Meeting in a conference battle, the Lakers protected their gridiron and won in a rout, 45-6.

Scoring summary: First quarter, Lakers got touchdown passes from 47 and 55 yards, and an interception for a 60-yard touchdown, 19-0 end of first quarter. Second quarter, HL-W-W grabbed a 15-yard interception for a touchdown, hit on a 17-yard touchdown pass, and scored on an 11-yard run, 39-0 at the halftime break. The Lakers added a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and the Cubs scored their lone touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard scamper by junior Dunkin Westrich. The Cubs (0-2), host Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Friday night, Sept. 12, at Kimball. The Jaguars enter the Central Minnesota Conference matchup at 0-2, after recently being thrashed by Eden Valley-Watkins, 41-7.
