Cubs lose to Maple Lake

Maple Lake downs the Cubs, 63-44 The Kimball Cubs boys’ basketball team lost to the Maple Lake Irish at the Leo Wirth Gymnasium Jan. 29, 63-44. Kimball took a 3-2 lead when Eric Voigt canned a 3-pointer, but then the Irish took over scoring in double figures in each of the four quarters. The Cubs trailed 19-8 after the first quarter and 36-20 at halftime. Preston Looman was the lone Cub to score in double figures and he finished with 16 points. Eric Voigt hit three 3-pointers in the first half and ended with nine points, all of which came during the first half. Aaron Rossman followed Voigt with six points and Josh Orn contributed three points, all of which came on free throws. The Cubs play Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead-Tuesday, Feb. 3, to take on the Lakers. The Cubs look to get their first conference win and hope to do it against the Lakers.
