Cubs open season with a split against the Eagles

The Kimball boys’ junior high baseball team began their season against Eden Valley-Watkins in a double-header.

In the first game, the Cubs had Tanner Kuseske start on the mound. Tanner threw three innings, giving up six runs on four hits; he walked five and struck out two taking the loss for the Cubs.

At the plate, the Cubs had six hits; Ryder Schwieters and Garret Rosenow each had two. Tanner Kuseske scored two of the five runs in the 5-8 loss.

In the second game, Graham Gregorson received the nod as the starter. He threw 1.2 innings, giving up no runs on no hits while walking two and striking out one. Ryder Schwieters finished the game for the Cubs and picked up the win; he allowed two hits in the 7-0 victory.

Gregorson led the hitting attack with two base knocks. Ryder Schwieters scored two of the Cub runs.
