Kimball wrestlers placed fifth out of seven teams on Jan. 19. The cubs scored 102 points beating Benson 99 points and BBE 73.5 points. At 103 pounds, Tyler Kuechle placed fifth, picking up two pins. Seventh-grader Travis Schiefelbein took home third place honors after he got two pins one being in overtime. Derek Orbeck, a junior at 130 pounds, went 3-1 on the day with three pins, giving him a third place finish. Derek also received the “Most Pins” Award which is given to the wrestler who has the most pins in the shortest amount of time. At 152 Nick Donnay placed fifth after winning his first match 10-5 and his final match of the day. Luke Schiefelbein went 3-1 on the day with one pin late in the third period giving him a third place finish. Senior John Hanley also took third place with three wins, one by a major decision 19-6 and another in a close 3-2 score. Anthony Laabs placed sixth picking up a slim 5-4 win. Closing out the day was junior Mitch Fisher at 215 who went 2-1 on the day, placing 3rd with a 41-second pin. Cubs take on Huskers Last Friday, the Cubs hosted parents night against the Holdingford Huskers. The Cubs came out to a packed gym led by the Kimball pep band. At 112, Travis Schiefelbein got the Cubs on the board with a come from behind pin in the third period. Mitch Pramman won a close match by a 9-8 score. Mitch scored the go ahead points with less than 30 seconds left in the match. After that, Derek Orbeck racked up another win with a tech fall at 130 pounds. Luke Schiefelbein, 160-pound weight class, dominated his opponent pinning him in the second period. Senior John Hanley kept things rolling at 171 with a 14-3 major decision. Heavyweight Mitch Fischer received a forfeit to end the night for the Cubs who came up just short of beating the Huskers.
