The Kimball Cubs’ football team had several members play well during their homecoming loss Sept. 26 to the Rockford Rockets, 35 to 0. While the Kimball offense is struggling to get the ball in the end zone, junior running back Erich Deutsch is developing into a very good running back. Erich rushed for 145 yards on 26 carries Friday night. Opening the holes for Erich is a young offensive line that is developing into a solid unit. The group is led by seniors tackle Brandon Hurrle and tightend Jeremy Dahnke. Rounding out the group are juniors center Aaron Dahlinger and tightend Paul Hughes, sophomores Andy Diffley and Robbie Massmann and freshman John Hanley. Senior captain Jeremy Dahnke had an excellent night on both sides of the ball, catching six passes for 39 yards from his tightend position. On defense the linebacker had five tackles, two for losses and three assists for losses. He also shared a quarterback sack. Senior linebacker Al Holker contributed three tackles, one for a loss, and five assists. Kimball travels to Pierz Friday night, Oct. 3, for a Central Minnesota Conference game.
