The Kimball Cubs ended their season last Tuesday night in the sub-section semifinal game losing 9-0 to A.C.G.C. at Maple Lake. Kimball stranded 11 runners on only five hits. A.C.G.C. managed seven hits against Craig Henneman and Chubby Rossman, however five errors helped the Falcons to the final section game against Paynesville. Kyle Winter had two hits for the Cubs, who finished the year with seven wins and 12 losses. The Kimball Cubs had their baseball banquet on Monday night. Awards were given out for outstanding performances from the players during the year. Kyle Winter was selected for the first team all conference in the Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) as an infielder. Tom Libbesmeier was a second team selection. Mark Krippner was chosen for the first team all academic first team in the CMC. Tom Libbesmeier led the team in batting with .404 average. Kyle Winter received both the outstanding offensive and defensive team awards as he led the Cubs in RBI’s with 21, doubles with eight, and posted a .394 batting average. He received the defensive award for his infield and pitching performances. For the year, Kyle had only four errors at first and second base and recorded three saves for the Cubs. He had 16 strikeouts in 11 innings of work.
