Riley Fischer drove in five runs on two hits to lead the Cubs softball team past the Annandale Cardinals 13-2 at home via ten-run rule in five innings on May 9. Fischer hit a grand slam to left field in the first inning and an RBI double in the third inning.
The Cubs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Mazie Jurek hit an RBI single, Sami Winter drew an RBI walk, and Fischer hit that grand slam.
In the bottom of the third, the Cubs added to their early lead after Fischer doubled to center field, and Fischer scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the fifth on a home run.
Claire Maus opened the game for the Cubs in the pitching circle. The pitcher gave up three hits and two runs, none earned, over five innings, striking out eight and walking two.
Offensively, the Cubs collected 10 hits in the game. Elaina Fink led the team with three hits in four at bats. Claire Honer collected two hits in three at bats to also pace the Cubs.
Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (Game one)
Mazie Jurek collected three hits in four at bats, as the Cubs defeated the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars 10-0 via the 10-run rule in five innings in game one of a home doubleheader on May 10. Jurek doubled in the third inning, and singled in both the fourth and fifth innings.
The Cubs scored eight runs in the fifth inning on the way to victory. An error scored two runs, Baylie Winter hit an RBI single, an error scored another run, Elaina Fink and Jurek each hit RBI singles, and Claire Maus and Sami Winter each recorded RBI ground outs to account for the scoring.
Back in the second inning, the Cubs got on the board via a Winter RBI single. The Cubs added one run in the third when Winter singled down the left field line on a full count, making the score 2-0.
Riley Fischer earned the win for the Cubs. The hurler surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Offensively, the Cubs amassed 11 hits in the game. Baylie Winter, Sami Winter, and Ella Johnson each drove in two runs. Fink collected two hits for the Cubs in three at bats.

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (Game two)
Lilliah Krippner drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Cubs past Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 21-0 in game two of the doubleheader, a game that ended after four innings due to the 15-run rule. Krippner hit a two-run home run to left field in the third, and RBI singles in the second and third innings.
The Cubs won thanks in part to 11 runs in the third inning. Claire Maus hit an RBI double, Sami Winter a two-run triple, Krippner hit that two-run home run to left field, and Claire Honer recorded an RBI single. Elaina Fink was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Mazie Jurek drew an RBI walk, and Maus was struck by a pitch, also driving in a run. Capping the inning, Winter and Krippner each hit RBI singles.
A wild pitch put the Cubs on the board in the top of the first. The Cubs then scored eight runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Riley Fischer hit an RBI single, three errors led to four runs, Krippner hit an RBI single, Baylie Winter recorded an RBI double, and Ella Johnson hit an RBI single.
Maus earned the win for the Cubs. The starting pitcher gave up one hit over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Johnson threw two innings of scoreless ball for the Cubs in relief. The reliever surrendered two hits, striking out one and walking none.
