Cubs suffer first loss

·

The Kimball Cubs faced Ogilvie in their first match of the season Monday, Aug. 30. The Cubs were defeated in three games by the taller and quicker Ogilvie team. Scores were 12-25, 21-25, 16-25. Senior captain Amelia Hentges led the Cubs with 17/20 hits, three kills, and the highest percentage of serves received. Fellow captain Brandi Schiefelbein came in with the second highest number of serves received. Ashley Kunkel contributed two service aces, and Stephanie Roos served 11 for 12 in the match. After first-game jitters were settled, the Cubs played competitively through the remainder of the match. They hope to continue to improve as the season moves forward. You can see the Cubs in action Thursday, Sept. 9, in Holdingford, and Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Lester Prairie Invitational. Call the Cub Line for more information at (320) 398-INFO.
