The Kimball Cubs football team ran into a top-three team in the state in Eden Valley-Watkins last Friday night, Oct. 2, for their homecoming. The young Cubs got a taste of what a good team looks like. The Cubs had two big plays and scored once verses the Eagles starters, but outside of that, Eden Valley-Watkins dominated the game with a final score of 57-8.
Offensively, the Cubs had 147 total yards of which 102 of them came on the two big plays. One being a screen pass to Tyler Lock and the other, a touchdown pass to Austin Ruehle. Both passes were thrown by Aaron Laabs. Overall, the Eagles dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, the Cubs were led by Tyler Loch with nine tackles. Mitch Pramann and Jacob Linn followed with eight tackles each. Alex Thurber had a block on a point-after attempt.
The remaining schedule for the Cubs will be better match-ups for Kimball. This Friday night, the Cubs host Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted for Parents’ Night. The Cubs are 1-4 overall, and 0-4 in conference play.
