The Cubs beat the Holdingford Huskers, 51-16, Thursday, Jan. 8. The Cubs were led with pins by Jacob Kieke (103), Gary Salmela (125) and Jeremy Dahnke (152). Kimball hosted the Kimball Duals Saturday, Jan. 10. It was a very tough day for the Cubs, who lost three matches. Kimball was short-handed for the day due to three key injuries. The first match was against section foe Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (ACGC). The Cubs lost by a score of 51-23. A highlight of the match was a win by John Hanley (160) over Spencer Lund who was rated 10th in the state. The second match was against Dassel-Cokato (DC), with the Cubs losing by a score of 55-15. The third match was a bit closer, with Kimball losing to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE) by six points. Jeremy Dahnke (152) went 3-0, and Peter Jonas (hwt.) was 2-1. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the tournament. DC beat Blaine in the finals to win the tournament. Kimball will wrestle Royalton and Melrose starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, in the Leo Wirth gym. Kimball hosts Watertown-Mayer and Eden Valley-Watkins Tuesday, Jan. 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
