The first match Friday, Jan. 16, was an easy win over Royalton by a score of 57-24. Royalton had five forfeits because of injuries. The Cubs were led by Jeremy Dahnke (160) with a close win. Getting pins for Kimball were Luke Deutsch (152), Aaron Dahlinger (171), Jacob Kieke (103) and Erich Deutsch (135). The second match was against a much-improved Melrose team. The Cubs wrestled very well as a team with Dan Barthel (140) earning a pin to give Kimball a 39-30 win. Jeremy Dahnke once again won a very close match to get the Cubs on the scoreboard. Dahnke went up a weight to fill in for John Hanley who was out sick. Ryan Nutter (189) picked up a big pin along with Peter Jonas (hwt). Jacob Kieke (103) got his second pin of the night followed by a good effort by Derek Orbeck (112) filling in for an injured Andrew Huhn. The scoring continued with a pin by David Dahnke (130) and a forfeit to Erich Deutsch (135) before Dan Barthel picked up his pin. The JV wrestled very well, winning eight of 10 matches. Kimball’s overall record stands at 6-7. The team’s CMC record is 3-1. Kimball wrestlers take on Rockford at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23. The Cubs wrestle in a tri-meet at Rivers Christian Academy at 6 p.m. They will wrestle MCCA and Trinity.
