Daniel Donabauer, 81

Daniel Donabauer of Kimball died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 81.

Services celebrating his life were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and again after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Parish prayers were at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Daniel M. Donabauer was born Jan. 10, 1928, in St. Joseph to Leopold and Margaretha (Reisinger) Donabauer. He grew up in St. Joseph and entered the U.S. Army in 1950, where he served in Company B, 511th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and he lived in Rhode Island for a short time. He returned to central Minnesota and married Ramona Skaja June 11, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. The couple lived in Waite Park and St. Cloud before moving to Kimball in 1977.

Danny was a well driller, he was self-employed with Jack Fischer Well Drilling, and then he worked with his son-in-law at Rollie Werner Well Drilling. He was active at his job until he became too ill to work. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty, and the American Legion Post 0026.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Herman Donabauer, Alphonse Donabauer, Bernard Donabauer, Florian Donabauer, Valentine Donabauer, and Gilbert Donabauer; and sister Bertha Klein.

Danny is survived by his wife Mona of Kimball; his children Stephen (and Jeanne) Donabauer of St. Cloud, Keith (and Joyce) Donabauer of St. Augusta, Shelly (and Frank) Krippner of Kimball, and Mary (and Rollie) Werner of Annandale. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Hildegard Schneider of Foley, Leo (and Dorraine) Donabauer of Kimball, Rose Michalski of St. Augusta, Joan Wruck of St. Cloud, Tilly (and Sylvester) Loeken of Kileen, Texas; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
