Darlene Stuve of Fair Haven died peacefully Friday, March 10, 2023, at Savanna Prairie in Kimball. She was 78.
A memorial service in celebration of her wonderful life will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Darlene Joyce Scherr was born Feb. 7, 1945, in Buffalo to Clarence and LaVerne (Holland) Scherr. Darlene grew up among 10 siblings on a small country farm near Monticello. She graduated from Monticello High School with the Class of 1963. She met Larry Stuve that year, and the two of them went on to marry and have three children. While Darlene was raising her children in Fair Haven, she also ran an in-home daycare. Her favorite activity at the time was watching her children get off the school bus each day then running for her with their hands stretched out. Among various other jobs, her greatest joy was being a mother.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Cheryl and Lois, and brother Billie.
She will be greatly missed by her children Jody (and Joel) Spaeth, Kirt Stuve, and Shawn Stuve; grandchildren Mark Stuve, Mandy (and Justin) Glunz, Ashley (and Robbie) Green, Samantha (and Ryan) Fritz, Chaz (and Kelsey) Stuve, Tyler (and Sheena) Spaeth, Cassey (and Mitch) Schmidt, Sheena Stuve, Kayla Stuve, and Kristina Stuve; great-grandchildren Zoe, Kailey, Bryson, Madilyn, Jehrett, Jana, Jaida, Lydia, Jacob, Emily, Ezra, Braylin, Teegan, Everett, Miles, Matix, Karson, Blake, Brody, Tucker, and Mavrik; great-great-grandchild Ruby; seven siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
