Dassel Lamplighters 4-H Club report

·

The May meeting of the Dassel Lamplighters 4-H Club was held May 4 at Collinwood Park.

The meeting was called to order at 5 p.m. Pledges were said, and roll-call was taken by “Rhyme Time!” (Members accounted for their presence by saying a word that rhymes with his or her name.) The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved.

Old business included a reminder that members have until May 15 to re-enroll in 4-H and to identify animals they plan to show at the fair. Meeker County (and surrounding counties) offer many camp opportunities over the summer. Check the Meeker County 4-H website, Facebook page, and newsletter for more information.

New business included a discussion about what to do for a community service project. The club decided to help with the community garden at the St. John’s Ed Center again this year. Planting will take place on a Wednesday evening in mid-May. Families can take turns watering and weeding the garden throughout the summer.

On June 6, at 10 a.m., 4-Hers are invited to attend the Dassel Library story hour to make seed bombs for pollinators.

The next meeting will take place June 1, at 5 p.m., at Breeds Park. Families should bring bubbles, yard games, and sidewalk chalk. The club plans to decorate the sidewalks near the school to say thank you to school staff for a great year, and celebrate the start of summer!

The roll-call question for the June meeting will be: “What historical event would you like to see with your own eyes?”

The Bohnsack family will provide refreshments and recreation.

Respectfully submitted, Betty Bohnsack
