Friday, June 8, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office at 9:46 p.m. stating they had received a 9-1-1 call from a female in Dassel who said her “son has a gun,” and then the call was terminated. Dispatchers returned a call to the Ron and Vickie Lueck residence at Dassel, and a man who said his name was Aaron threatened to shoot himself if officers came to the home. Further information was received that a firearm was discharged at this residence prior to deputies arriving. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the 9-1-1 caller, Vickie Lueck, and were informed that her son Aaron Charles Lueck, 19, had a shotgun and that she, along with her other son, struggled with Aaron to get the gun away from him. Several shots had been fired inside the residence and at least one round was discharged outside the residence. An extensive search of the property and area took place; officers were unable to locate Aaron Lueck. No one was injured, however, there was property damage to the house and furnishings. Aaron Lueck was apparently upset over a dispute he had with his girlfriend. Later, officers received information that Aaron Lueck was given a ride to a residence in McLeod County. With the assistance of the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Aaron Lueck was taken into custody without incident at 3:08 a.m. Saturday, June 9, and is currently being held in the Meeker County Jail, pending formal charges. Agencies that assisted were McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Hutchinson Police Department, Hutchinson Ambulance, Dassel Fire/Rescue and the Minnesota State Patrol. The incident is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
