David Maurer of Lafayette, Minn., died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at the New Ulm Medical Center. He was 59.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Fair Haven Cemetery. 
David William Maurer was born Jan. 5, 1961, in Minneapolis to William and Evelyn (Markwardt) Maurer. He was baptized in 1961 and confirmed in 1975, both at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven. David was raised in Fair Haven Township, and he graduated from Kimball Area High School with the Class of 1979. He worked in various areas of building construction. He also worked through all the seasons as a farmer. He always took the best care of all animals. David loved the outdoors, and enjoyed riding motorcycle and snowmobile. He was united in marriage to Catherine Walsh, and they were parents to their daughter Monique.
David was preceded in death by his wife Catherine, and father William Maurer.
He is survived by his daughter Monique (and Mario) Vazquez of California; mother Evelyn Maurer of Annandale; sister Cindy (and Steve) Wills of South Haven; brother Craig (and LaVon) Maurer of South Haven; nephew Dustin Wills and niece Megan (and Logan) Piepkorn; great-nieces and great-nephew Archer, Everley and Fiona; his caregivers Doreen and Al Guggisburg of Lafayette; and other family members and friends.
