The Eden Valley-Watkins chapter of DECA held a Color Run as a part of this year?Äôs Homecoming festivities. It?Äôs the first time EV-W DECA has hosted a Color Run, so the turnout of 32 runners was great.
The Color Run was a 5-kilometer race that?Äôs untimed and unofficial. At each kilometer marker of the run, DECA members were there with buckets of
?Äúcolor?Äù with which they liberally doused the runners.
More than $1,000 was raised, from participant fees and business sponsorships. This money will go toward the cost of competition at both the district and state level.
?ÄúWe thank all the participants and the businesses who supported our event,?Äù said advisor Denise DeJuliannie. ?ÄúWe look forward to hosting it again next year!?Äù
Special thanks to the Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs Department and the mounted posse. Several members volunteered their Saturday morning to come out and help with traffic control. Thank you!
(Note to next year?Äôs runners: don?Äôt smile at the ?Äúcolor?Äù stations!)
Thirty-two participants ran or walked in the first DECA 5K Color Run
Saturday morning, Oct. 3. Fifty-one members of DECA planned and put on the event that was part of Homecoming this year. The money raised will be used by DECA to compete at district and state level. It was so much fun, and such a success, that they plan to do it again next year. Staff photo by Jean Doran Matua.
