Jim DeRose of Richmond will seek the Republican endorsement for the District 14B seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives. DeRose and his wife Jeanette have been married for 28 years and have three children. He owns and operates Riverside Resort in Richmond and the Riverside Inn in Cold Spring. DeRose was a teacher in the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa School District from 1983 to 2003. Area residents encouraged DeRose to run, citing his understanding of the issues, connection to the communities in District 14B, success as a businessperson, and conservative family values as reasons he would be a strong candidate and representative. “If elected, I will work on issues important to our area including fair funding and education reform for our children and invigorating job growth for our growing communities,” DeRose said. “I will be an energetic voice for the families in our district and actively sponsor legislation that advances the issues of importance to the people in our district. My life and business experience will be tremendous assets as the state continues to struggle with the budget and other important issues. I will bring common sense and a strong work ethic to St. Paul,” DeRose added.
