Diocese priests reassigned

The Diocese of Saint Cloud recently announced reassignment (and retirement) of priests within the Diocese. Here are those changes within our readership area, all effective June 28, 2023.

Rev. Timothy Gapinski, pastor of the Church of St. Michael in St. Cloud, and the Church of Saint Joseph in Waite Park, will be pastor of the Church of Saint Louis Bertrand in Foreston, the Church of Saint Mary in Milaca, the Church of Saint Mary in Mora, and the Church of Saint Kathryn in Ogilvie.

Rev. Joseph Herzing, pastor of Christ Church Newman Center in St. Cloud, the Church of the Holy Spirit in St. Cloud, and the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in St. Cloud, will be parochial vicar of the Church of Saint Boniface in Cold Spring, the Church of Saint James in Jacobs Prairie, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Richmond, and the Church of Mary the Immaculate Conception in Rockville, while continuing as director of Continuing Education for Clergy.

Rev. Brady Keller, parochial vicar of the Church of Saint Augustine in St. Cloud, Church of Saint John Cantius in St. Cloud, and Saint Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud, will be pastor of the Church of Saint Michael in St. Cloud, and the Church of Saint Joseph in Waite Park.

Rev. Douglas Liebsch, will be parochial vicar of the Church of Saint Augustine in St. Cloud, the Church of Saint John Cantius in St. Cloud and Saint Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud, while continuing as full-time vocation director and chaplain at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud.

Rev. Aaron Nett, pastor of Church of the Assumption in Eden Valley, will be pastor of the Church of Saint Michael in Buckman, Church of the Holy Cross in Harding, Church of Saint John Nepomuk in Lastrup, and Church of Saint Joseph in Pierz.

Rev. Jeremy Ploof, pastor of the Church of Saint Olaf in Elbow Lake, Church of Saint Charles in Herman, and Church of Our Lady of the Runestone in Kensington, will be pastor of the Church of Saint Paul in St. Cloud, and Church of Saint Peter in St. Cloud.

Rev. LeRoy Scheierl, pastor of Church of Saint Paul and Church of Saint Peter in St. Cloud, and Vicar for Clergy, will be pastor of the Church of Saint Boniface in Cold Spring, Church of Saint James in Jacobs Prairie, Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Richmond, and Church of Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Rockville.

Rev. James Statz, pastor of Church of Saint Anne in Kimball, and Church of Saint Nicholas in St. Nicholas, will retire.

Rev. Donald Wagner, pastor of Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Braham, Church of Christ the King in Cambridge, and Church of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Isanti, will be pastor of Church of the Assumption in Eden Valley, Church of Saint Anne in Kimball, and Church of Saint Nicholas in St. Nicholas.

Rev. Derek Wiechmann, pastor of Church of Saint Louis Bertrand in Foreston, Church of Saint Mary in Milaca, Church of Saint Mary in Mora, and Church of Saint Kathryn in Ogilvie, will be pastor of Christ Church Newman Center in St. Cloud, Church of the Holy Spirit and the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in St. Cloud.

Rev. Thomas Knoblach has been appointed, effective July 1, 2023, Vicar for Clergy for the Diocese of Saint Cloud, while continuing as pastor of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Sauk Rapids, and Church of the Annunciation in Mayhew Lake, and Vicar of Health Care Ethics for the Diocese of Saint Cloud.
