Senior Picnic Senior students from KAHS participated in a picnic Thursday, May 29. The picnic is an annual event for students in lieu of a senior skip day. Seniors got their yearbooks and had time to visit with each other before they head off in the different directions their lives will take after high school. Senior homeroom teachers chaperoned the event. Awards Day All students at the high school attended an awards program at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 30. Parents and community members were invited to attend this event which was in the Leo J. Wirth Gymnasium. Many students were recognized for accomplishments they had made during the school year. Scholarship announcements and other awards were presented. Graduation Senior high graduation will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5 in the Leo J. Wirth Gymnasium. Student speakers will be Alanna Bowman, Amanda Hentges and Rachel Stein. Music by the high school band and choir will also be part of the program. Last Day for Seniors Students in grade 12 had their last day of classes Wednesday, June 4. Mandatory practice for seniors who will participate in the graduation ceremony will be at 8 a.m. on June 5. Students in grades 7-11 will have their last day of classes on Thursday, June 5. Canine Searches Parents and students should be aware that local canine patrols are used to investigate school property at random times. Sometimes searches are scheduled at schools to help train the dogs. The intention of opening our doors for this type of training is part of keeping schools and school zones free of illegal substances. Anyone with questions about this should call to the high school principal or superintendent. Summer Basic Skills Testing Schedule Students who haven’t passed the Basic Skills Tests will have an opportunity to do so in July. Testing will take place at the high school starting at 8:30 a.m. each day. Specific test and dates are: o Written Composition; Tuesday, July 22 o Reading Comprehension; Wednesday, July 23 o Mathematics; Thursday, July 24
