Donald Nystrom of Kimball died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 47. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Fr. David Grundman officiating. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball, and one hour prior to the funeral Saturday at the church. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Donald John Nystrom was born May 13, 1957, in St. Cloud to Manley and Dolores (Kunkel) Nystrom. He married Brenda Thurber May 28, 1983, at St. Anne’s Church in Kimball. He was a planner/buyer at Malco Products from 1978 until 2003. Donald was a lifetime resident of Kimball where he was an active member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He also was an active member of the National Ski Patrol for 22 years at Powder Ridge. He enjoyed coaching his children’s youth sports. Donald was preceded in death by his father Manley Nystrom, mother-in-law Norma Thurber Zander, father-in-law Clayton Thurber, and brother-in-law Jeff Thurber. He is survived by his wife Brenda, children Heather, Mitchell, Eric and Scott, all of Kimball; mother Dolores Nystrom of Kimball; sisters and brothers Betty Ann Nystrom (and Bruce Mancini), Larry Nystrom, Joan Nystrom, Patty (and Terry) Nelson, Kristie (and Jim) Orn, and Chuck Nystrom, all of Kimball; sisters-in-law Val (and Cliff) Schultz of Clearwater, Vickie (and Gary) Lagred of Starbuck; stepfather-in-law Kenny Zander of Cokato; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jordan Mancini, Joshua Orn, Kateri Mancini, Lucas Nystrom, Jacob Nystrom and Malissa Schultz. Honorary pallbearers were the Powder Ridge Ski Patrol. Music for the funeral was provided by Stacy Hemmesch, Tom Schreiner and Bev Hendricks.
