The Eden Valley Fire Department will again host an open house, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the fire hall. They will have a bounce house, fire truck rides, kids’ maze, fire hose for kids to try out, free food, a vehicle extraction demonstration, and a Lifelink helicopter landing (depending on weather). Everyone is welcome.
At its August meeting, the council approved a request from the Eden Valley Fire Relief Association to increase the benefit level to $1,800 per member. The council also approved the fire department moving forward with ordering a new 3,000-gallon tanker at an estimated cost of about $225,000.
The Eden Valley Planning Commission recommended approval of two site permits: 1) to Eden Valley Leased Housing for a new 20-unit apartment building, and 2) Schlangen Custom Cabinets to build a breezeway between two buildings. The city council approved.
One police officer has resigned, and Chief Ernie Junker would like to fill that position. Dave Braegelmann retired at the end of August from the Public Works department.
The next regular meeting of the Eden Valley City Council will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6.
