Earning the eighth seed in the north sub-section, the Eagles girls’ basketball team came into the Section 3AA playoffs on a two-game winning streak. The Eagles’ streak and season came to a halt at the hands of the north sub-section’s top-seed and third-ranked New London-Spicer Wildcats in an 81-42 road playoff loss on Friday, Feb. 21.
The Eagles fell into a 46-19 halftime deficit from which it couldn’t recover. For the game, the Eagles shot 36% from the floor, compared to 46% for the Wildcats.
Turnovers plagued the Eagles in this game, committing 22, compared to nine for the Wildcats. This helped lead to 20 fewer shot attempts for the Eagles.
Grace Brovold and Brinn Kuechle led the Eagles with 10 points each. Brovold also led the team in rebounds with six.
The Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 5-22 and a 4-10 record in Central Minnesota Conference play. The team finished seventh out of eight teams in the conference.
