Eagle wrestlers drop a pair of duals

The Eagles hit the road for triangular dual action Tuesday, Jan. 14, versus the Osakis Silverstreaks and the host team – the twelfth-ranked Class A Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars. The Eagles left with a pair of dual defeats.
Versus the Silverstreaks, the Eagles dropped five of the first six matches to fall behind 28-6, but rallied back with three straight wins – two by pin – to cut the gap to seven, at 28-21. The teams split the final four matches, and the Eagles came up just short in its comeback bid in a 37-33 loss.
In the dual, the Eagles won six of the 13 matches, five by fall. Cason Demarais (107), Ryder Schmidt (152), Carter Scheeler (160), Treyce Ludwig (189), and Nick Becker (285) earned those pins. Brayden Kramer (145) earned the other Eagle win – a 7-1 decision over Silverstreaks’ Simon Jacobson.
The Eagles fell by pin in four matches, and by forfeit in one match (133). As for the other two losses, Brody Sieben (121) fell by a 14-2 major decision to the Silverstreaks’ Ashton Pastian, and Mitchell Lipinski (215) dropped a 4-3 decision to the Silverstreaks’ Conner Koep.
Against the twelfth-ranked Jaguars, the Eagles won four of the 13 matches, including two by pin and one by forfeit, in the eventual 50-21 loss.
Brayden Kramer (145) and Nick Becker (285) earned the two pins and Eli Hernandez (172) the forfeit victory. Brody Sieben (121) secured the other Eagle victory – a 5-4 win over the Jaguars’ Noah DeRoo.
