The Eden Valley-Watkins softball team is in an early-season slump, which is certainly understandable. It’s difficult enough to concentrate on the task at hand when the fickle Mother Nature decides to have things her way. The girls are battling harder than ever, but they just don’t seem to be getting the timely breaks they need on the diamond. Last week was a very busy one for the Lady Eagles, who lost a double-header affair to Pierz on Thursday, April 26, by scores of 9-1 and 8-7; then Friday, the 27th, saw Eden Valley-Watkins drop a tough one to the Albany Huskies by a final tally of 9-1. The Albany starting hurler Courtney Buerman went five innings, surrendered no earned runs, and fanned nine Eagles’ hitters.
