The Eden Valley Area Historical Society has a busy June as the group unveils its latest fundraiser and gears up for Valley Daze.
“Memorable Years” was released this week. The fundraiser allows people to choose a particular year associated with a special memory people have related to the Eden Valley area.
“No event or memory is too big or too small,” the fundraiser flier states.
Perhaps the year: You graduated high school? Got married? Moved here? A certain building was built or taken down? A sports team won a championship, etc.? You caught a big fish. Someone fell into a hole while digging and/or cleaning an outhouse. You finally beat _______ in a game of horseshoes?”
If so, consider commemorating that memory by making a donation to the EVAHS in the amount of the year – or better, a multiple of it. For example, for the memory of the “Graduating class of 1974” – donate $19.74, $197.40, or $1,974 etc., or $38.74 (19.74 times 2), etc.
Proceeds will go towards a potential future home for the EVAHS.
“Our current push for fundraising is to fund historical museum possibilities – rent, buy, or build,” director Nancy McNab said.
All-year related donations will be published in a future newsletter that is sent out to all current members of the EVAHS (Year, Memory provided, Donation Amount, and Donor) unless requested not to publish. If you aren’t a member of EVAHS, you can sign up at the same time as making your donations. All donations are tax-deductible.

People interested in learning more about EVAHS, signing up for a membership, or making a donation can also stop by the group’s table at the Community Center during Valley Daze. The table will be staffed from noon-8 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Visitors can also have EVAHS information, historical items, photos to view, and the latest newsletter.
