The Eden Valley-Watkins Robotics Team made their big break last year, which was the first year the Eden Valley-Watkins District had a Robotics team. Last year, the ?ÄúMystery Machine?Äù went to state, and they even received a place on television. They also had to build a robot that could pick up a ball, aim and throw it, and also, it had to climb up a tower. Last year?Äôs Robotics Team led the Eden Valley-Watkins School to robotics fame, and created a group of science and math lovers, that bring brains to a whole new level.
This year, the Eden Valley- Watkins Robotics Team is led by Robert Flaschenriem. The team has been working hard to make a robot that can use a lever to lift hollow plastic balls, that represent fuel, into a boiler of an airship. They also have to build a rotor, that will help the aircraft liftoff.
A member of the team, Ashley DeJuliannie, says ?ÄúI am definitely busier since I joined Robotics. We have practices most days after school, and some Saturdays as well.?Äù DeJuliannie also claims that she heard about the Robotics Team last year, but she really didn?Äôt know what it was about. She joined this year after she found out some more information. DeJuliannie is the only female member of the group this year, and has quite a perspective on the marketing skills that are required in robotics. She is in charge of the marketing portion of the Robotics Team. She helps the team come up with ideas on how to make the robot more efficient, and she is also in charge of T-shirts, and making buttons.
Eden Valley-Watkins ?ÄúMystery Machine?Äù team set the bar really high last year, and this year, the current team is going to make us proud once again.
