Edna VonLintel of Cold Spring, formerly of Litchfield and Watkins, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. She was 86. Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, Aug. 19, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with the Rev. John Brunner officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Edna VonLintel was born Jan. 8, 1918, in Litchfield, to John William and Pauline Alvina (Fandrig) Sommerfeld. She married Herman VonLintel Feb. 19, 1941, in Darwin. They resided in Watkins where they owned and operated a cafe for a few years. They moved to Washington for three years before moving back to Watkins where they owned and operated a tavern, Herman’s Place, for many years. Herman died Sept. 16, 1972. In 1975, Edna moved to Litchfield. She was employed at Green Giant in Cokato and Jennie-O Foods in Litchfield. In 2001 Edna moved to Cold Spring where she resided at an apartment prior to entering the Assumption Home in 2002. Her hobbies included flower gardening, dancing, traveling, embroidering and crocheting. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 12 brothers and sisters. Edna is survived by her children and their spouses Angie (and Harlan) Lobitz of Carlos, Minn., Dr. Phil VonLintel of Cusick, Wash., Jim (and Pam) VonLintel of Oracle, Ariz., Carrie (and Rick) Johnson of Ft. Ripley, Linda (and Alan) Beniek of Cold Spring; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Casket bearers were Chris Schultz, Mike Schultz, Leland Danielson, Roy Johnson, Cheryl Lobitz and Brad Lobitz. Honorary casket bearers were Alice Hellwig, Elaine Danielson, April Corgard, Ethel Hilsgen, Vi Johnson, Elfeda Simmons and Alvina Bergquist Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
