Elementary students exercise more than just their minds at annual field day event

Kimball Elementary school students in fourth through sixt grades participated in the annual Track and Field Day Tuesday, May 20. Eight stations were set up for morning activities, including 100- and 200-meter races, long jump, high jump, shot put and discus. There were also two stations set up for breaks from track and field activities. At these stations, students played basketball or frisbee, and were treated to soda and ice cream, compliments of P.I.E. Students ate lunch on the football bleachers and began the next part of the day with 4 x 100-relay races. Four girls and four boys from each class were chosen to represent their class in a relay race in which grade levels competed against one another. All of the races were close and the stands were full of cheering students. “It was a great day,” said Mr. Strand. “I would like to thank Mr. Clark and the teachers for all their help and support. I would also like to thank the members of the high school track team and the FCCLA for all their help,” Strand said. According to Strand the faculty and parent support was crucial. “They did a super job and without their help the day would not be possible. Thank you to the members of the P.I.E. group for the ice cream and pop, as we all enjoyed the treat.”
