Elmer J. Garding of St. Cloud died on Monday, April 15, 2002, at the St. Cloud Hospital after a short battle with leukemia.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas. Burial followed in Holy Cross Parish Cemetery in Pearl Lake. Friends called from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Rockville Lions Club prayers were at 6 p.m., followed by Vigil Prayers at 8 p.m.

Elmer was born January 1, 1950, in St. Cloud to Barney and Irene (Haus) Garding. He married Alberta Renzo on April 30, 1983, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph.

Garding worked as a Brand Manager for Bernick’s Beer Department for more than 36 years. He was a member of the Minnesota Beer Wholesalers Association, Rockville Lions Club, Rockville Sportsman’s Club, and many other organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Elmer is survived by his wife Alberta of St. Cloud; children Joey (and Bonnie) Garding of Sartell, Margie and Jeron Garding of St. Cloud; grandchildren Bryce and Kylee of Sartell; brothers and sisters: John Garding of Watkins, Virgil Garding of St. Cloud, Vernon Garding of Brainerd, Joseph Garding of Kimball, Ann Eldred of St. Cloud, Renee Garding of Kimball, Donna Garding of St. Cloud, Doris Goerger of St. Joseph, Dan Garding of Luxemburg, and Lisa Pauls of Watkins; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements were by Daniel Funeral Home of St. Cloud.
