Erma Elizabeth Lynch (nee Steman), age 84, died August 7, 2001, at St. Joseph’s Home in Palatine, Ill.

Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine, with a Rosary Vigil that evening. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

Erma was the last survivor of 14 children of the late Henry and Elizabeth Mohs Steman of Kimball. She was a long-time resident of Inverness and the Hancock Center, and more recently of Bradenton, Fla.

Erma was an extraordinary woman who accepted and prevailed over all the challenges in her life with devotion, faith and fortitude. Her life focused around the Lord, her family and friends. She was never one to miss an opportunity to serve those in need, and to teach these same values to her children.

The Lynch family deeply appreciates the loving care that Erma received during her final illness from the Little Sisters of the Poor at St. Joseph’s Home in Palatine, Ill.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years John J., and her children: Thomas H. of San Jose, Calif., John J. Jr. (and Stephanie), James M. (and Dorothy), Mary E. “Molly” (and J. Dickinson) Graff, William F. (and Patricia), Sr. Maria Christine, lsp (Margaret) of San Francisco, Calif., and Richard E. (and Elsa) Lynch; and 21 grandchildren.

Memorial donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor at St. Joseph’s Home in Palatine would be appreciated.
