Erwin Anderson of Gainesville, Ga., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was 87.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Forsyth County, Ga., with Rev. Richard Moeller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Little-Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Erwin William Anderson was born in Kimball to William and Christie Caroline Peterson Anderson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He worked 41 years as an engineer with Western Electric before retiring. He lived in Forsyth County for the past 32 years. He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Masons, and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Erwin is survived by his wife Billie Sue Mitchell Anderson of Gainesville; children Mitzi McDearis of Cumming, Ga., Suzy (and Morris) Mayo of Gainesville, Ga., Billy (and Lavada) Anderson of Clermont, Ga.; grandchildren Shannon McDearis, Ryan McDearis, Michael Anderson, Jessie Anderson, Cynthia Mayo, Corey Mayo, Chad Mayo, Stephanie Gunter and Eric Gunter; four great-grandchildren; brothers Don Anderson and Paul Anderson, both of Kimball; sisters Alice Stelton of Kimball, Eva Edlund of Maple Grove, and Alpha Erickson of Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church building fund, 4815 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, GA 30506.
