Esther Brunko of Watkins died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the Hilltop Care Center where she has been a resident the past year. She was 93.
Memorial services were at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Visitation was at 3 p.m.
Esther Henrietta Brunko was born Nov. 4, 1913, at Fairbank, Iowa, to Henry and Mary (Huebner) Brunko. She worked on the family farm near Fair Haven and was a homemaker. She lived the past eight years in Watkins, previously living in Kimball. Esther enjoyed warming the hearts of everyone she gave a smile, quilt making, completing crossword puzzles, card playing, and traveling. especially to the casino.
Esther was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Carl, Adolph, Frederic, Walter, Rosa and Irene Brunko, Clara Dahnke, Dorothy Yerks, Marie Schauer, Martha Schiffman and Vera Pherigo.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
