Ethel Annala of South Haven died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. She was 93.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with Rev. Rudolph Maurer, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in Maine Prairie Cemetery in Kimball. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
Ethel was born Jan. 19, 1910, in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County, to Ira and Iva Driver. She lived there her entire lifetime. Ethel married Rhinehardt Maurer Dec. 4, 1925; he preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1959. She married Andrew Annala June 20, 1961; he preceded her in death Jan. 3, 1971. She owned and operated Annala Tax Service for many years, doing bookkeeping and tax preparation work; she retired three years ago. Ethel was a Life Member of Maple Lake VFW Post #7664 Auxiliary.
Ethel was preceded in death by two husbands, son Floyd Maurer, and sister Sadie Stewart.
She is survived by her children Bertha Miller of Annandale, Gladys (and Vernon) Marschel of Annandale, Helen (and Art) Zeis of Altoona, Wis., Mildred (and Ralph) Fredrick of South Haven, Rudy (and Marion) Maurer of South Haven, George (and Pat) Maurer of South Haven, Eva (and Melvin) Alama of Annandale, Laura (and Tom) Wittrock of South Haven, and Jerry Maurer of Eden Valley; sister-in-law Marjorie Maurer of South Haven; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
