Eugene LoveJoy of South Haven died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital, Litchfield. He was 81. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale, and one hour prior to services at the church. There was a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday. Eugene Lewis LoveJoy was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Minneapolis to Frank and Mary (Foley) LoveJoy. He married Alma M. Bauer on Nov. 15, 1948, in Minneapolis and they lived in Brooklyn Center prior to moving to South Haven in 1963. Eugene served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and Korean War. He worked as a steel fabricator for St. Paul Structural Steel and then Horizon Steel in Minneapolis, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Maple Lake VFW Post #7664, and Ironworker’s Local #535. He enjoyed his family, baseball, farming, gardening, camping, fishing, and hunting. He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Mary, brother Edward, and sisters Rosalie and Mary Ellen. He is survived by his wife, Alma of South Haven; children Albert of St. Cloud, Virgil (and Penny) of South Haven, Gloria (and Jon) Laney of Dassel; sister, Zita Powell; grandchildren, Stephanie and Stacy Huff, Sara Krippner, Scott and Gregory Laney, Lori Ficker and Amber Thompson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
