EV-W-K boys take fifth at Foley, second at Maple Lake

Foley Invitational, April 20

As a team, the Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball boys’ track team placed fifth from among nine teams. Glencoe-Silver Lake, Litchfield, Foley, and Staples-Motley placed higher than EV-W-K; Pine City, Pierz, Milaca, and Melrose followed in rank.

Second-place performances were turned in by: Austin Pelkey in 400-meter dash with 53.29; and Connor Wittenberg in 300-meter hurdles with 43.24.

Third-place was achieved by: Nathan McCann in the 110-meter hurdles with 16:56; and Joe James in triple jump with 39’08.5″.

Fourth place: Connor Wittenberg in the 110-meter hurdles with 16:66; Boys’ 4×400-meter relay team; Austin Pelkey in long jump with 19’03.25″; and Connor Wittenberg in triple jump with 38’10.5″.

Fifth place: Boys’ 4×800-meter relay team with 9:29.00; Boys’ 4×200-meter relay team with 1:40:57; Austin Pelkey in 200-meter dash with 23.63; Danny Lochen in pole vault with 11′; and Jesse Hedlund in discus throw with 114’8.5″.

Sixth place: Joe James in 100-meter dash with 11:76; Nathan McCann in 300-meter hurdles with 45.51; Brad Schlangen in 800-meter run with 2:18.04; and

Connor Wittenberg in high jump with 6′.

Other EV-W-K athletes competed as well. As a team: 4×100-meter relay team took seventh with 48.76. Individually: Donte Hirman, 16th in 100-meter dash and 11th in 400-meter dash; Alex Schoenwetter, 20th in 100-meter dash; Cole Sanders, 9th in 1600-meter run; Erik Mares, 18th in 1600-meter run and 12th in pole vault; James Gathje, 19th in 1600-meter run; Frankie Nistler, 14th in 400-meter dash; Shadly Callahan, 13th in 300-meter hurdles; Danny Lochen, 17th in 800-meter run; James Lovell, 18th in 800-meter run; Torey Rohloff, 11th in 200-meter dash; Luke Serbus, 10th in 3200-meter run; Brandon Lichte, 12th in 3200-meter run and 10th in long jump; Nathan McCann, 13th in 3200-meter run; Brad Schlangen, 8th in high jump and 14th in triple jump; Dustin Mancini, 12th in pole vault; Denn Cole, 21st in long jump; Austyn Schlueter in discus throw and 7th in shot put; Adam Laabs, 13th in discus throw; and Brandon Anderson, 11th in shot put.

Maple Lake Lions Invitational, April 23

EV-W-K sewed up a solid second place at the Maple Lake Lions Invitational Monday, April 23: second for team overall, second for girls, and second for boys. Maple Lake was first. Rockford, BBE, St. John’s Prep, HL-W-W, West Lutheran and Maranatha Christian followed in the eight-team meet rankings.

First-place performances were turned in by: Nathan McCann in 110-meter hurdles with 15.91;

Connor Wittenberg in 300-meter hurdles with 42.54; Connor

Wittenberg in high jump with 6’2″; and Danny Lochen in pole vault with 11’6″.

Second-place performances were by: Connor Wittenberg in 110-meter hurdles with 16.31; Boys’ 4×800-meter relay team with 9:17.20;and Austyn Schlueter in shot put with 43’7.5″.

Third-place was achieved by: Boys’ 4×200-meter relay with 1:40.73; Boys’ 4×400-meter relay team with 3:48.08; Joe James in triple jump with 38’05”; and Jesse Hedlund in discus throw with 119’8″.

Fourth place: Austin Pelkey in 100-meter dash with 11.58; Brad Schlangen in 800-meter run with 2:18.01; Nathan McCann in 300-meter hurdles with 45.19; Boys’ 4×100-meter relay team with 48.52; and Brad Schlangen in high jump with 10′.

Fifth place: Donte Hirman in 800-meter run with 2:18.71; and Shadly Callahan in 300-meter hurdles with 45.78.

Sixth place: Joe James in 200-meter dash; Austin Pelkey in long jump with 17’9″; Connor Wittenberg in triple jump with 38’1″; and Brandon Anderson in shot put with 36’10.5″.
