Tuesday Sept. 25, the cross country team competed in the Dassel-Cokato Invitational Meet at Collinwood Park. The race course has some larger hills and is pretty tough overall.
Wednesday, head coach Holly Hansen said, “Last night was a great night for a meet. A lot of girls took time off their races, we are starting to race now, which is very exciting.”
The teams at the meet were, Glenco-Silver Lake, Montivideo, Waconia, Delano, Maple Lake, Dassel-Cokato, Rockford, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead, and Eden Valley-Watkins- Kimball.
The girls’ varsity placed sixth as a team. The individual girls’ varsity runners were: Molly Hesse who placed 11th in a time of 17:20 (-24 seconds from previous meet), Larissa Anthofer 17th-17:37 (-16 seconds), Raelyn Callander 34th-18:10 (-48 seconds), Kelsey Vigoren 37th-18:20 (-27 seconds), Renee Berg 44th-18:58 (-7 seconds). Samantha Stuve 49th-19:37 (-22 seconds) and Ashley Morris 52nd-19:56.
The girls’ junior varsity placed fifth as a team. Individual girls’ junior varsity runners were: Lara Weber 23rd place in a time of 20:02 (-1 minute 33 seconds), Jennifer Notch 26th-20:13 (-41 seconds), Bethany Libbesmeier 28th-20:21 (-2 seconds), Kayla Overland 40th-21:17 (-58 seconds), Kelsey Libbesmeier 48th-21:38 (-48 seconds), Olivia Fisher 64th-23:11 (-13 seconds), Kristina Mackereth 65th-23:22, Megan Libbesmeier 66th-23:51 (-1 minute 49 seconds). The girls’ varsity and junior varsity race is a 4,000 meters distance.
In the boys’ junior varsity 5,000-meter race, Bret Mattice placed 34th in a time of 23:06.
The junior high girls’ race was 3,000 meters, the longest race they have had this season. The junior high girls placed third as a team. The individual junior high girls’ runners were: Brook Winter fifth place in a time of 14:15, Grace Kopitzke 15th-15:40, Stephanea Roeser 16th-15:42, Maria Roeser 20th-16:15, Rose Ruprecht 25th-17:43, Ashley Trout 27th-18:22 and McKenenzie Libbesmeier 30th-18:54.
The Paynesville meet scheduled for Thursday was canceled because of the weather conditions.
The next meet will be at the Litchfield Golf Course, at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.
