The EV-W-K cross country home meet was held this past Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Kimball Golf Club. The weather was great. The course has a lot of hills and is very challenging.
The teams attending the meet were Dassel-Cokato, Maple Lake, St. John’s Prep, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Rockford, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Sauk Rapids-Rice and Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball.
The meet started with the junior high boys’ and girls’ races, a 2,000-meter course. The EV-W-K junior high girls’ results were: Brooke Winter (seventh grade) second place with a time of 8:51, Grace Kopitzke (7th grade) 18th-10:13, Stephanea Roeser (seventh grade) 19th-10:14, Maria Roeser (seventh grade) 21st-10:25, Ashley Trout (eighth grade) 27th-11:29, Rose Ruprecht (eighth grade) 28th-11:33 and McKenzie Libbesmeier (eighth grade) 30th-12:42. The junior high girls placed fourth as a team.
In the junior high boys’ race ,Bret Mattice (seventh grade) finished second in a time of 8:09.
The girls’ varsity and girls’ junior varsity 4,000-meter race followed. The individual EV-W-Kgirls’ varsity results were: Larissa Anthofer (senior) placed ninth in a time of 17:45, Kelsey Vigoren (senior) 18th-18:47, Ashley Morris (senior) 20th-19:14, Bethany Libbesmeier (senior) 25th-20:19, Maddie VanderMay (senior) 34th-21:29, Lara Weber (senior) 35th-21:35, and Kristina Mackereth (senior) 36th-22:15. The girls’ varsity placed fourth as a team.
The EV-W-K girls’ junior varsity individual results were, Tanya Maciejewski (soph.) first place in a time of 17:37, Molly Hesse (soph.) second-17:44, Raelyn Callander (fr.) third-18:58, Renee Berg (soph.) fifth-19:05, Samantha Stuve (soph.) seventh-19:59, Jennifer Notch (soph.) 10th-20:54, Kelsey Libbesmeier (fr.) 17th-22:06, Kayla Overland (soph.) 18th-22:15, Olivia Fisher (soph.) 23rd-23:24 and Megan Libbesmeier (soph.) 25th-25:40. The girls’ junior v arsity placed first as a team.
Jacob Asfeld (senior) was our only competitor in the 5,000-meter boys’ varsity race. Jake placed 37th in a time of 22:37.
We would like to thank the Kimball Golf Course for allowing us to have our meet there and for all their help.
We want to thank everyone who worked before, during and after the meet to make it successful.

Our next meet is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Dassel-Cokato Collinwood Park. We also have a meet Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Paynesville Golf Course.
