Thursday, Oct. 8, the Cross Country Team competed in the Litchield Invitational meet. The 14 teams attending the meet were Buffalo, New London-Spicer, Annandale, Hutchinson, Mound-Westonka, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Cambridge-Isanti, Maple Lake, Litchfield, Watertown-Mayer, Orono, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Lester Praire and Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball. The course was rather flat, and the competition tough.
The girls’ varsity team placed 10th. The girls’ varsity individual finishers were Molly Hesse 26th place in a time of 17:21, Larissa Anthofer 32nd-17:31, Kelsey Vigoren 48th-18:00, Raelyn Callander 50th-18:01, Samantha Stuve 70th-19:14 and Renee Berg 71st-19:21.
The junior varsity placed sixth. The individual girls’ junior varsity finishers were Ashley Morris 23rd place in a time of 19:51, Brooke Winter 25th-20:00, Jennifer Notch 28th-20:12, Lara Weber 34th-20:53, Bethany Libbesmeier 36th-20:58, Kayla Overland 37th-21:00, Kristina Mackereth 43rd-23:13, Kelsey Libbesmeier 48th-23:10, Olivia Fisher 50th-23:15, Grace Kopitzke 53rd-23:22 and Megan Libbesmeier 54th-23:37.
The girls’ junior high team placed fourth. The individual girls’ junior high finishers were, Stephanea Roeser 15th place in a time of 11:45, Maria Roeser 31st-12:45, Rose Ruprecht 32nd-12:51, McKenzie Libbesmeier 36th-13:26 and Ashley Trout 39th-14:04.
In the boys’ varsity, Jacob Asfeld finished 78th in a time of 21:09, and Brett Mattice 79th in a time of 21:11.
Friday, Head Coach Holly Hansen said, “We saw a lot of talent last night. Kudos to Grace and Brooke for running JV and Bret for running varsity.”
The next meet will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 , at Maple Lake, this will be the CMC conference meet.
