The EV-W/K girls’ and boys’ track and field athletes opened up their season indoors back at a Central Minnesota Conference meet from St. John’s University Fieldhouse on Thursday, March 20. In that season-opening action, both teams recorded a pair of top-three team finishes.
The girls’ team finished second with 126 points, just one and a half points behind first-place Holdingford. The boys’ team finished third with 55 points, behind second-place Royalton and first-place Holdingford. Here are the teams’ results by event.
Girls
50-Meter Dash: Jordyn Theis finished third with a time of 8.05 in the 29-competitor field. Rhiannon Hilsgen placed eighth with a time of 8.71. Addy Wilson recorded a time of 9.16, Jaci Listerud 9.25, and Yazmine Gerges 9.46.
200-Meter Dash: Jordyn Theis placed second in the 14–competitor field with a time of 27.90, finishing .4 seconds behind the top runner. Rhiannon Hilsgen ran a time 30.80 to place seventh. Jaci Listerud finished with a time of 35.20.
400-Meter Dash: Hope Kuechle won the 13-competitor event, running a time of 1:08.40. Teammate Miley Kuechle finished second, running a time of 1:09.90.
800-Meter Run: Alayna Haag finished second in the 15-competitor field with a time of 2:32, four seconds behind the top runner. Kynlee Bischof finished sixth with a time of 2:52, and Holly Truenow seventh with a time 2:58. Addy Stommes ran a time of 3:08.
55-Meter Hurdles: Jocelyn Zoller ran a time of 9.70 to finish second in the 13-competitor field – .8 seconds behind the top finisher. Miley Kuechle finished third with a time of 10.80, and Natalie Vossen eighth with a time of 12.10.
4×200-Meter Relay: The team of Jordyn Theis, Ellie Becker, Grace Brovold, and Hope Kuechle won the nine-team event with a time of 1:53.90. The team of Kendra Schutz, Addy Wilson, Rhi Hilsgen, and Jocelyn Zoller placed fifth with a time of 2:04.30.
4×400-Meter Relay: The team of Ava Holmgren, Alayna Haag, Jocelyn Zoller, and Hope Kuechle finished second in the five-team event with a time of 4:26.50, 10.5 seconds behind the top team.
4×800-Meter Relay: The team of Kynlee Bischof, Holly Truenow, Brooklyn Molitor, and Alayna Haag won the three-team event with a time of 11:19.10.
High Jump: Ellie Becker won the 11-competitor event with a jump height of 5-02.00. Kendra Schutz placed sixth with a jump height of 4-04.00, and Grace Brovold seventh with a jump height of 4-02.00.
Pole Vault: Ellie Becker also won this 11-competitor event with a height of 10-00.00. Natalie Vossen finished seventh with a height of 6-00.00, and Jocelyn Zoller tied for eighth with a height of 5-00.00.
Long Jump: Miley Kuechle recorded a jump of 14-08.00 to finish fourth in the 20-competitor field. Rhiannon Hilsgen finished tenth with a jump of 12-07.00. Yazmine Gerges recorded a jump of 12-01.50.
Triple Jump: Addy Stommes recorded a jump of 27-10.00 to finish fifth in the 12-competitor event.
Shot Put: Jordyn Theis finished fifth in the 26-competitor event with a throw of 30-02.00. Juliana Lechuga placed 11th with a throw of 26-00.00, and Aurora 13th with a throw of 25-10.00. Ella Myers recorded a throw of 23-09.00, Kennedi Theis 20-02.50, and Ruby Hesse 19-10.00.
Boys
50-Meter Dash: Owen Morten-son ran a time of 7.24 to finish third in the 32-competitor field. Nolan Mertens ran a time of 7.30 to place sixth and Kole Knaus a time of 7.39 to finish ninth. Blake Kiffmeyer ran a time of 8.03 and Tanner Wylie a time of 8.58.
200-Meter Dash: Owen Mor-tenson posted a time of 24.50 to finish third in the 15-competitor field. William Ballard ran a time of 25.60 to finish sixth.
400-Meter Dash: Tyler Charbo-neau ran a time of 58.90 to finish fourth in the 15-competitor field.
800-Meter Run: Gavin Arens posted a time of 2:29.60 to place sixth in the 16-competitor field. Connor Lauermann ran a time of 2:31.40 to finish ninth. Mason Lesnau posted a time of 2:48.00.
1600-Meter Run: Gavin Arens ran a time of 5:28.00 to finish sixth in the 16-competitor field.
4×200-Meter Relay: The EV-W/K team ran a time of 1:38.50 to finish second in the seven-team field, .8 seconds behind the top team.
High Jump: Owen Mortenson recorded a jump height of 5-02.00 to finish fifth in the 13-competitor field. William Ballard also recorded a jump height of 5-02.00 to place sixth. Blake Kiffmeyer also competed in the event.
Pole Vault: Brody Hooper recorded a height of 8-06.00 to finish fourth in the 11–competitor field. Nolan Merten posted a height of 7-06.00 to place sixth.
Long Jump: Jed Spaulding posted a jump distance of 18-03.00 to finish sixth in the 18-competitor field. William Ballard also competed in the event.
Triple Jump: Owen Mortenson recorded a jump distance of 37-05.00 to finish fourth in the 10-competitor field.
Shot Put: Jed Spaulding posted a throw of 37-09.00 to finish third in the 27-competitor field. Braiden Magedanz recorded a throw of 33-07.00 to finish 12th, and Hank Meyer a throw of 32-10.00 to finish 13th. Zach Kourima recorded a throw of 28-07.00, and Joey Lindenfelser 22-00.00.
Next action
After the boys competed in Litchfield on April 10, the girls in Pierz on April 11, both teams at a home meet in Kimball on April 12, and the boys in Holdingford on April 15, both teams will compete in a meet in Maple Lake on Thursday, April 17 and then a meet at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Tuesday, April 22.
