Many changes have occurred this year in Eden Valley-Watkins One-Act, or Drama Club. This year, long-time drama coach, Vickie Meyer, has decided to pass the torch onto Jess Lubbers. Not only does the One-Act team have a new coach, but they are in for quite a time crunch. The One-Act play subsections are on Jan. 28, in Paynesville, and they are working hard to get their play organized on time.
The Eden Valley-Watkins school is putting on the play ?ÄúA Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Fifth Period.?Äù The main character, Tommy, is struggling to release his freedom from the school bully, Bugs. Tommy offers to help Bugs get a date for prom with popular actress Stephanie Mezaluna. But the only way that Tommy could get Stephanie?Äôs attention, is to pretend that Bugs is a famous actor in hiding. One cover-up leads to another, and another, and pretty soon, the whole charade gets out of control.
Because of time conflicts, the Eden Valley-Watkins One-Act group, does not have any public performances. However, they will be performing in the small gym for the school, on Thursday,
Jan. 26, at 1:35 p.m. Everyone is also invited to cheer on the Eden Valley-Watkins group in subsections in Paynesville. They will be the first group performing there, and they go on at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28.
