Experience the arts at KAHS

·

The Department of Fine Arts at Kimball Area High School will present a Winter Concert and Art Show Monday, March 15. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., featuring the jazz, junior high and senior high bands. The jazz band will hit you with some very contemporary sounds, followed by the junior high band with a broad range of tunes from the 17th century through the present. The senior high band will focus on popular music. The twist is this – the popular music is based on music popular from the 1500s-1740. Some of it has a distinct 20th and even 21st century influence, but the audience might find this to be a very interesting venture into the music of our distant past. It is a great opportunity to open our eyes to the music of our ancestors! A substantial amount of student art work will also be on display in the hallways as part of our local art competition. The Minnesota State High School League requires a local contest for pieces to be submitted to state competition, and this is the public’s opportunity to see the judged art work (with ribbons awarded) that will represent KAHS in state competition, as well as a cross-section of student work from Mr. Linn’s various art classes. Please plan to join us Monday, March 15, for a celebration of the allied arts at KAHS. Students have spent many hours in preparation and are anxious to share a bit of themselves with you in this setting. Artwork will be on display before and after the 7:30 p.m. concert.
