The Express used the long ball Sunday to down the Pearl Lake Lakers 10-5, to gain home field advantage throughout the Central Valley League playoffs and take the CVL South Division regular season title. Scott Marquardt, Brian Marquardt, Ramsey Simons and Jim Brubaker all homered to lead the Express offensive attack. The Express jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and didn’t look back. Jim Brubaker started on the bump for the Express and picks up the win going seven strong innings before Pat Arnold and Adam Magnuson finished things up the final two innings. Scott Marquardt led the Express offensively going 3-4 with two doubles and the solo homerun in the second inning to get things going. Rail Report The win improves the Express overall record to 16-5 and 10-2 in CVL play. The Express have two league games remaining. They will be in action Tuesday evening in Cold Spring to take on the St. Nicholas Nicks in a make up game from earlier this season. Game time in 7:30 with the Nicks being the home team. Kimball finishes the regular season action off next week at home against the Eden Valley Hawks. Pat Arnold
