Express gets win over Clippers

The Watkins Clippers hosted Kimball Express Friday night under the lights, May 26. Although Watkins jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, Kimball scored 4 runs in both the third and fourth inning, sealing the win. The Clippers tried but failed to catch up, and ultimately lost, 9-6 to Kimball.

Ben Johnson earned the win for the Express, pitching 5 innings; Zach Dingmann pitched in relief. Matt Geislinger would take the loss for the Clippers, also pitching 5 innings; Dan Berg pitched in relief.

Scott Marquardt hit a 3-run home run in the fifth which scored Joey VonWahlde and Austin Ruehle, two of his 3 RBI on the night. Sufka hit a double. RBI were hit by Austin Ruehle, Adam Beyer (2 of them), Ben Johnson, Zach Sufka, and Kyle Winter.

Kevin Kramer hit a towering home run in the second, scoring Adam Hiltner and Gary Peters, and scored Dan Sargent and Logan Linn for a total of four RBI on the night. The Clippers?Äô 10 hits just didn?Äôt measure up to the 13 by the Express.

The Express next play at Atwater Chuckers, 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 2; then a 2 p.m. home game against Pearl Lake Lakers Sunday, June 4.

The Clippers will be in the St. Stephen-Sartell tournament Friday through Sunday; their first game is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, against St. Stephen, at Sartell.
